HeN: Local herb networks for growing, learning, sharing the gifts of the Plant realm for health support and remedy, caring for ourselves and Earth.

This field of LIFEPOWER introduces a project that I passionately hope will be taken up by local communities at least all over the UK. The majority of the world's population - animals too - benefit from the herbs that grow where they live. The arts of home health care using gifts from the Plant realm are all but forgotten in the UK. Local networks can support the renewal of skills, the sharing of contemporary knowledge and provide high quality herbs for the community. The articles in this field introduce the importance of such a grass roots movement, including in the context of Transition Towns, a range of herbs that are easy to grow and safe to use, and a list of resources.

Creating HeN: The Vision Herbs not only help us increase our health and relieve maladies, they also offer us a doorway into a deeper spiritual awareness that heals the human-Earth relationship. When many take part in providing - taking shares in the various skills and labours - we reap the benefits of community caring, love in action. We also cultivate a means to develop the unity perception so urgently needed to heal the catastrophic ills we have made on Earth. Earth heals humanity heals Earth: One Life.

Astounding Aromatics for HeN Think Mediterranean: warm sun, light... Think strong fragrances. There is an exceptional group of herbs that will grow well in the UK at least in the southern areas, and manifests exceptional qualities. When our bodies need help to tell aggressive microbes to back off, these are the tough guys we want on hand. They're nice in food too.

The Mighty Elder Known as the People's Medicine Chest because it helps us in so very many ways. Its berries saved the lives of thousands during the 1918 influenza epidemic. In our peculiarly human stupidity we often hack it down instead of nurturing and treasuring it. This then is firstly a call for Elder Guardians. Then we gain just a glimpse of the myriad virtues of Elder's flowers, leaves and fruit; a pointer toward an excellent 'how to use' book**; and a tea recipe from ancient times that is still valuable.

**Rosemary Gladstar's "Herbal Medicine, A Beginner's Guide". I also recommend her "Herbal Remedies for Children's Health", not the least as it gives precise instructions on helping babies. Providing copies of these books to every family would save the NHS billions. Alas...

Resources and References To help ourselves and families we need, of course, to be well informed. This is my list of most highly recommended books on the use of medicinal herbs, along with a selection of top inspirations to understand and promote our unity consciousness. I have not mentioned the obvious: the vast amount of information, including videos, available Online. Free. Not all very good, so take care.
